Bob Shallit: Gold River film company snags stars for movie
 Email To Friend

Some Hollywood star power is coming to town for a low-budget political thriller to be filmed here this summer.

Actors Stephen Baldwin and Eric Roberts are the leads in "Power & Pride," the first feature-length film from Gold River-based 315 Entertainment Group.

The movie is about an ambitious state senator who runs for governor and becomes embroiled in scandal, says Jeff Evans, the film's producer, director and screenwriter.

How did he get Baldwin (star of "The Usual Suspects") and Roberts ("The Dark Knight") to work on a film with a budget below $1 million?

Both liked the script and "we were able to work out some deals," says Evans, who runs an ad agency and branched out into film production two years ago.

315 Entertainment is unabashedly faith-based, with a goal of producing "family-friendly" films. But Evans thinks this film has the potential to reach a larger audience than his earlier, shorter films. "I don't want to pigeonhole (it) as a niche market film," says Evans, who hopes to have "Power & Pride" ready for release by year's end.

Filming begins in July, with scenes in Folsom and at the Capitol. Extras are needed: For more info, go to www.integritycasting.com.
